Lamp in my Closet

There’s a lamp in my closet that I switched on

When the world shook again,

“I will not turn it off,” I said.

A vigilance, a fight, a warring for light

“I will not give up!” I said.

But I am so weary. And in need of a nap.

Good mothers always leave the light on.

Is that true?

Maybe there is a greater light

Than my tiny 40 watt lamp

Maybe it’s not mine to keep it lit

Maybe the fight is actually sorrow

Maybe there’s a Sun that shines brighter

Maybe my little light can grow dim

Maybe Yours is more than enough.

Maybe You’ll let me know when I wake up.
